Thankfully, readers regularly submit questions to me, and they usually lead to a blog post on Blog to Great. When I see a lot of questions with the same theme, I know many other new bloggers are having the same issue. Lately, I've gotten several on "how to maintain the drive to succeed". Do you feel you're being held back? The solution may be within you. As bloggers devote more and more energy to their blog, they eventually take a step back and question their progress. It's at this point that you need to remind yourself of your longterm goals. Things to watch out for-
- Excessive worries about failure- One of the prime reasons for failure is not continuing to pursue your goal. Blogging will not give you overnight success, but if you're willing to learn and grow, you will get there. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
- Finding your voice- Review your past posts to see that it's YOU who is writing. Does it come from heart of hearts?, is it on an area that you're good or experienced in?, do you truly enjoy the topic? Your readers can tell, so you have to be genuine.
- Unrealistic expectation of financial reward- It takes time to build an audience, you know that already. So that means taking time to increase revenue. Don't blog in order to retire in one year. It's not possible, but an income will come, keep improving! your blog
- Fear of success- Many people have put themselves into failure by being convinced that they're incapable of succeeding. Don't fall into that trap, you've come this far.
- Acknowledge your short term, recent successes- Pride yourself in a great post, a positive reader comment, or new changes to your blog. Each step like this brings you closer of success and completing the goal setting process.
