New Gerard Way Comic Book Series

       MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE band member, GERARD WAY, 31, is planning a follow-up to his series of graphic novels.  When he was just 16, he wrote a set of comics while living in Belleville, NJ.  He relaunched his comic author career in 2007 by releasing The Umbrella Academy.  Way recently triumphed at comic publishing’s top prize ceremony last month at the 2008 Eisner Awards.   He took home the gong for Best Limited Series. 

Mr Way admits that the success of the first series, which follows the adventures of a family of superheroes, inspired him to write the follow up, which he hopes to have in comic shops by this November.   He recently told a British magazine, "It’s a biggie, the Eisner is the Oscar of comics. It’s actually nice to get, because it’s hard to get. "The next series deals with the fallout and aftermath of series one. It’s definitely political, it deals with a subject in American history in which people might not see a sense of irony or black humor."
